Set Up Place

1. After clicking “Set Up Place”, a new window will appear for you to confirm the center location of the board fiducials. Find the center of each fiducial and click on the buttons “Confirm 1st Fiducial”, “Confirm 2nd Fiducial“ and “OK“ when you’re satisfied with the results at each step of the way.

2. Click “Add“ and then “Select From Feeder List“.

3. Select the component you want to place and click “Select“.

4. Click “Learn Placement Location“.

5. Move the crosshairs to where you want to place the component and set the correct placement angle. Click “OK“ when ready.

6. Click “Edit Properties“.

7. Here you can input the Reference Designator for your component (For example, R1, C2, U1, etc.) and include any comments as well. Click “OK“ when ready.

8. Repeat the previous steps to add more components to your board. When you’re finished, click “Done“.

The steps above show the simplest and most intuitive way to set up component placement.

There is another way you can do this, which is by importing the coordinates from your favorite PCB design software.
