4. Select the part that you want to set up. Here, we’re selecting a previously trained 0805 resistor, with a value of 1k. Click “Select“ to close this window and then click “Learn Pick Location“.

5. Move the crosshairs until it’s centered with the first cell. Adjust the front and rear ambient light sliders as necessary to get a clear image. When you’re ready, click “Save 1st Position”,

Note: your goal should be to find the center of the cell and not the center of the component. This is because components can shift around slightly inside the cell.

6. Repeat the previous step with the last cell position. Count the number of cells from the 1st to the last position. The letters on the left are there to assist you in determining how many cells there are. Since we started with the letter “A”, ended with “E”, and this is a single pitch cut tape, there are a total of 5 cells. Input this value into the box “# of Cells“. When you’re ready, click “OK“.

7. Click “Learn Pick Height“.

8. Choose a location to measure the height with the nozzle. It’s a good idea to choose a flat empty area on the cut tape like shown in the image below.

You can choose any nozzle size, but since we’re not going to pick anything up, we can leave the nozzle size at #1, which has a finer tip. Click “Start“ when ready.

9. Look inside the machine and carefully lower the nozzle until the nozzle tip exactly touches the cut tape. Click “OK“ when you’re done.
